Time is Money When Reporting an Injury
Delaying a report of injury even by a few days can mean a significant increase in claim costs.
The increase in medical and lost-time costs associated with claim-reporting delays has made prompt reporting an even more important tool for controlling workers’ compensation claim costs. Studies have shown that early reporting of workers’ compensation claims and early assistance and support to injured workers reduces the duration and cost of claims. The earlier a claim is reported, the sooner a strategy can be developed to target a timely and cost-effective return to work. [ more ]

Making Training Personal
A few months ago I attended a basic motorcycle training course with my son. He is a new rider and was taking the course to get his motorcycle license. I’ve been riding for over 25 years, so I really didn’t expect to learn much. I was just taking the course to be with my son. As it turned out, however, I’m not sure who ended up learning more. Dear Jan,
I recently received the resignation of my commercial lines manager, who was also my oldest employee. When I told her I would match the offer from the other agency she very politely told me that money wasn’t everything. I can’t afford to lose any more employees. Any pointers on how I can head off the next resignation?
